About the Role

 

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) with at least 7 years of hands-on database management experience, preferably within high-traffic eCommerce or online portal environments. The ideal candidate is a master at optimizing performance, tuning complex queries, and managing modern relational and NoSQL databases at scale.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Database Administration & Operations: Manage, monitor, and maintain production, staging, and development database environments (MySQL and MongoDB) to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization: Proactively monitor database workloads, analyze execution plans, and conduct extensive MySQL query tuning to resolve bottlenecks and optimize response times.
  • Modern MySQL Architecture: Leverage advanced features and architectural improvements in MySQL 8.x and 9.x (e.g., InnoDB performance enhancements, invisible indexes, JSON data functions, window functions, and advanced replication topologies).
  • NoSQL Integration: Administer and optimize MongoDB instances, ensuring seamless integration and data handling alongside core relational databases.
  • Scalability & High Availability: Design and implement robust backup/recovery strategies, replication, partitioning, indexing strategies, and failover mechanisms.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software engineering and DevOps teams to review schema designs, deployment scripts, and architecture for high-concurrency online portals and eCommerce workloads.

Preferred Skills

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience as a Database Administrator in high-availability production environments.
  • Domain Experience: Proven track record working with eCommerce platforms or high-traffic online portals where low latency and high uptime are critical.
  • Core Database Expertise:
  • Deep, expert-level knowledge of MySQL (versions 8.x and familiarity with 9.x).
  • Extensive, practical experience in MySQL query tuning, index optimization, and server configuration tuning.
  • NoSQL Experience: Hands-on experience working with MongoDB is highly desirable.
  • Operational Skills: Strong background in database security, automated backups, disaster recovery, monitoring tools, and capacity planning.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced product engineering team.
