Brief Description

HEX20 is hiring an Embedded Hardware Design Engineer with proven expertise in electronic product development and embedded hardware design. The role encompasses complete product ownership, including requirements analysis, hardware architecture, schematic and PCB design, component selection, power supply design, board bring-up, validation, EMI/EMC compliance, production support, and lifecycle management.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to engineering excellence and possess the ability to develop reliable, high-performance electronic products while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

· Gather and analyze customer/system requirements and define hardware architecture.

· Select components based on performance, cost, availability, reliability, manufacturability, lifecycle status, and compliance requirements.

· Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, and embedded circuits using Altium Designer/Allegro.

· Develop and validate power supply designs including buck, boost, buck-boost, flyback, isolated DC-DC converters, and LDOs.

· Support PCB stack-up, layout reviews, SI/PI, grounding, thermal, DFM, and DFT requirements.

· Apply EMI/EMC design practices and support pre-compliance/compliance testing.

· Perform board bring-up, debugging, functional verification, validation, and root-cause analysis.

· Manage hardware deliverables across the product lifecycle, including prototype, EVT/DVT/PVT, release, production, sustaining, and obsolescence phases.

· Work closely with firmware, software, PCB layout, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and customer-facing teams.

· Maintain BOMs, component records, design documents, validation reports, test procedures, change records, and engineering documentation.

Candidate Profile

· 3–5 years of relevant experience in embedded hardware or electronic product development.

· Strong analytical, debugging, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with customers, leadership, and cross-functional global teams.

· Self-driven, accountable, adaptable, and comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Skills

Required Skills

· Strong hands-on experience in embedded hardware design, schematic capture, component selection, and design reviews.

· Knowledge of microcontrollers, processors, FPGA, sensors, memory devices, power components, connectors, protection devices, and communication interfaces.

· Experience with BOM management, component lifecycle analysis, alternate part identification, EOL/PCN impact assessment, and cost optimization.

· Experience with power electronics, converter stability, power integrity, sequencing, protection, thermal analysis, and efficiency optimization.

· Good understanding of PCB routing, SI/PI, EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, DFM, and DFT.

· Hands-on debugging experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power analyzers, and multimeters.

· Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, RS485, RS422, LVDS, Ethernet, and USB protocols.

Preferred Domain Experience

· Knowledge or hands-on experience in CubeSat hardware design for OBC, EPS, RF/communication boards, payload interface boards, or small-satellite avionics will be an added advantage.

· Understanding of CubeSat design considerations such as low-power architecture, power budgeting, fault tolerance, latch-up protection, redundancy, radiation-aware component selection, derating, watchdog/safe-mode support, and mission reliability.

· Exposure to space hardware validation aspects such as thermal cycling, vibration, shock, vacuum/outgassing, conformal coating, environmental testing, qualification, and acceptance test support.

· Familiarity with applicable standards/guidelines such as CubeSat Design Specification, NASA GEVS, ECSS standards, IPC-A-610 Class 3, IPC-2221/2222, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and EEE-INST-002 would be preferred.
