Role Overview
Job type : Contract
Duration : 6 months
We are seeking a highly skilled and resilient Senior DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain the robust cloud infrastructure that powers our high-transaction, large-scale platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring 99.99% uptime, seamless scalability during peak traffic surges (like flash sales), and accelerating our deployment pipelines.
If you are passionate about infrastructure-as-code, obsessed with automation, and thrive in optimizing high-throughput architecture, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Architecture & Scaling
Design, deploy, and manage highly available, fault-tolerant, and autoscaling AWS infrastructure.
Optimize infrastructure to handle massive traffic spikes, high concurrent user volumes, and heavy transactional databases typical of large-scale e-commerce platforms.
Implement efficient caching strategies and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) to minimize latency.
2. CI/CD & Deployment Automation
Build, maintain, and optimize robust Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure fast, safe, and zero-downtime releases.
Implement deployment strategies such as Blue/Green or Canary deployments to mitigate risk during production updates.
3. Monitoring, Alerting & Observability
Establish comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks before they impact end-users.
Conduct regular load testing and chaos engineering to simulate high-traffic events and ensure system resilience.
4. Security, Compliance & Cost Optimization
Implement industry-standard security practices, including IAM role management, data encryption (at rest and in transit), and network isolation (VPCs, Security Groups).
Audit and optimize cloud spend, ensuring high performance is balanced with cost-efficient resource utilization.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Requirements
Cloud Platform: Expertise in AWS is mandatory. Deep hands-on experience with core services including, but not limited to: EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, VPC, Route53, IAM, CloudFront, and ElastiCache (Redis/Memcached).
Containerization & Orchestration: Proficient with Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (EKS) or AWS ECS.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong experience writing clean, modular code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
CI/CD Tools: Mastery of CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
Database Management: Experience managing and scaling relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL/Aurora) and NoSQL databases under heavy read/write loads.
Scripting & Automation: Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go for operational automation.
Observability Stack: Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools like Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK/OpenSearch stack.
Experience & Background
Experience: 5+ years of dedicated DevOps/SRE experience.
Domain Expertise: Proven track record of managing infrastructure for large-scale, high-traffic web applications (e.g., e-commerce, fintech, or SaaS platforms with millions of active users).
Problem Solving: Strong understanding of system internals, networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS), and distributed system architectures.
