What’s important to us:
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Technical Lead / Architect to drive the design, evolution, and delivery of our enterprise-grade software systems. In this role, you will serve as the technical anchor of one or more product squads — guiding engineers, defining architectural standards, and translating complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
You will work closely with product, infrastructure, and data teams to establish best practices across the full software delivery lifecycle. You are equally comfortable whiteboarding system designs with architects as you are reviewing pull requests with developers. Your technology background is broad and stack-agnostic; what matters most is your depth of engineering judgement and your passion for building systems that last.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Design
● Lead end-to-end architecture for new products, platforms, and major feature initiatives
● Define and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and coding standards across teams
● Evaluate build vs. buy decisions and drive technology selection with clear rationale
● Produce architectural decision records (ADRs) and ensure documentation stays current
● Design for non-functional requirements: scalability, resilience, observability, and security by design
Technical Leadership
● Provide hands-on technical mentorship to senior, mid, and junior engineers
● Conduct architecture and code reviews with constructive, knowledge-sharing feedback
● Collaborate with product owners to refine technical feasibility, effort estimates, and trade-off analysis
● Act as the primary technical point of contact for cross-team and cross-functional initiatives
Cloud & Infrastructure
● Design and govern cloud-native architectures on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP (multi-cloud awareness is a
plus)
● Define cloud cost optimisation strategies — right-sizing, reserved capacity, and FinOps principles
● Ensure architectures leverage managed services, serverless patterns, and auto-scaling where
appropriate
● Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption using tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CDK
Database Engineering
● Design and own relational (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis,
Cassandra) schemas
● Lead database performance optimisation: query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis,
and caching layers
● Define data security controls: encryption at rest and in transit, field-level masking, RBAC, and audit
logging
● Govern data lifecycle policies, backup/recovery strategies, and disaster recovery testing
● Evaluate and introduce new storage technologies aligned to specific workload demands
DevOps & Developer Experience
● Champion CI/CD pipeline design, branching strategies, and automated testing gates
● Containerise applications using Docker and oversee Kubernetes / ECS / Cloud Run deployment models
● Promote shift-left security (SAST, DAST, dependency scanning) within the development workflow
● Establish SLOs, error budgets, and observability practices using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana,
Datadog, or equivalent
AI & Emerging Technologies (Advantageous)
● Contribute architectural guidance to AI/ML-powered product features or internal tooling
● Evaluate and integrate LLM APIs, embedding pipelines, RAG architectures, or fine-tuning workflows
● Ensure responsible AI practices — model governance, bias evaluation, and data privacy compliance
● Stay current with the AI landscape and identify opportunities to embed intelligent capabilities into
products
