Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 14: Group of Technology Companies (GTech), the industry body of IT companies in Kerala, organised a promotional marathon covering Technopark Phase 1 and TCS Campus here on Saturday (Dec. 13). The marathon was organised to impart greater momentum to the ‘No to Drugs’ campaign launched by the State government. It was a precursor to the fourth edition of the GTech Marathon, scheduled to be held at Kochi on February 15, 2026.
The event had more than 250 participants, besides the CEOs of over 50 IT companies from the state capital and Kochi.
Shri Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO, Technopark; Shri Hari Prasad, Managing Director, H&R Block India; Shri Prasadu Varghese, CEO, Ospyn Technologies; Shri Jeff Boeker, Managing Director, KaiSemi; Shri Harish Mohan, Founder, Workplaze and Shri Sijoy Thomas, Sector Lead – Technology, British High Commission in India, flagged off the 5-km promotional marathon.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri VK Mathews, Chairman of GTech, said the purpose of the campaign is to sensitise the public to the alarming menace of drug and substance abuse.
“It causes unimaginable damage to society, and like-minded and responsible people must come out in unison with a loud message of ‘No to Drugs’ and ‘Yes to Fitness’. We need to convert campaigns like this into a mass public movement to make Kerala drug-free,” Shri Mathews added.
Shri Sreekumar V, Secretary, GTech & Centre Head, Tata Elxsi; Shri Tony Joseph, Member, GTech Executive Committee & CEO, Kennedys IQ, India; Shri Rony Sebastian, Founder & CEO, Softnotions Technologies and Shri Tigy Thankachan, Member, GTech Executive Committee & CEO, iTraitz IT Solutions, were also present.The run was themed for Christmas, featuring Santa Claus, who cheered the runners. Participants also wore Santa caps during the run.
The upcoming GTech Marathon is expected to have 10,000 runners from diverse backgrounds, regardless of age, geography, gender, or fitness levels and will feature four categories of runs – Half Marathon (21.1 km), 10 km, 6 km and a 3 km Fun Run. GTech has a membership base of 300-plus IT companies, comprising 80 per cent of IT professionals in the state, totalling over 1.50 lakh. All leading IT companies in Kerala, including TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, IBS Software, UST Global, Allianz Technology, EY and Tata Elxsi are members of GTech.
