ABOUT ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and proactive DevOps Lead to spearhead our infrastructure and DevOps initiatives. With 5+ years of hands-on experience, including recent leadership or mentorship roles, you will be responsible for guiding a team of DevOps engineers, architecting scalable infrastructure, and driving continuous improvement across CI/CD, monitoring, and security practices. You’ll play a strategic role in aligning infrastructure reliability with business needs, while fostering collaboration between development and IT operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, ensuring alignment with technical and business objectives.
  • Define and implement best practices in DevOps, infrastructure automation, and system reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, and product teams to plan and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Take ownership of system architecture and provide guidance on infrastructure design and performance optimisation.

Infrastructure & System Management

  • Oversee the provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of software, hardware, and networks across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Manage cross-platform environments including Linux, Windows, and macOS.
  • Drive improvements in infrastructure automation and development environments.
  • Oversee configuration and performance of web servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx) and databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB).

DevOps & CI/CD

  • Architect and manage robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.
  • Lead initiatives around infrastructure as code, containerisation (Docker), and hybrid/multi-cloud deployments (AWS preferred).
  • Establish standards for version control, deployment workflows, and release management.
  • Guide teams in adopting scalable, repeatable deployment strategies.

Monitoring, Reliability & Performance

  • Set up and manage monitoring, alerting, and observability systems (e.g., Uptime Kuma, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and efforts to improve overall system reliability.
  • Define and track key metrics for uptime, system health, and performance.

Security & Compliance

  • Own and enforce infrastructure security policies, including access control, endpoint protection, and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Oversee backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and compliance initiatives.
  • Ensure secure DevOps practices in collaboration with other teams.

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Systems Administration.
  • Proven experience in leading or mentoring technical teams.
  • Deep understanding of Linux-based systems and cloud platforms (especially AWS).
  • Strong expertise in CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and infrastructure as code.
  • Proficiency in managing web servers and backend stacks (PHP, Node.js, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes is a plus).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Awareness of emerging DevOps trends and technologies; ability to recommend and implement forward-looking solutions.
