Job Purpose
We are seeking a proactive and technically excellent Software Technical Lead to drive the design, development,
and implementation of complex software solutions, with a significant focus on our projects and collaborations in
Japan. This role requires a strong technical background, a passion for mentorship, and crucial cross-cultural
communication abilities. The successful candidate will be vital in ensuring the technical quality and successful
delivery of projects while fostering effective communication with our Japanese stakeholders.
Job Description / Duties and Responsibilities
• Technical Leadership & Guidance:
o Lead the technical design, development, and implementation of software modules and features, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines and coding standards.
o Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, fostering best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
o Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software.
o Champion technical excellence, advocating for robust solutions and innovative approaches.
o Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective resolutions.
o Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application to current and future projects.
• Software Development & Architecture:
o Contribute hands-on to the development efforts, writing high-quality, efficient, and welldocumented code.
o Collaborate with architects and product managers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and viable solutions.
o Participate in the design and evolution of software architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
o Oversee the entire software development life cycle (SDLC) for assigned components, from design to deployment and maintenance.
• Cross-Cultural Communication & Collaboration (Japan Focus):
o Fluency in Japanese (JLPT N3+ required): Act as a key technical and communication bridge between our Indian development teams and Japanese clients/partners.
o Participate in technical discussions and meetings with Japanese stakeholders, effectively conveying complex technical concepts in Japanese.
o Understand and respect Japanese business customs and communication nuances to foster productive working relationships.
o Assist in clarifying technical requirements and resolving technical ambiguities with Japanese counterparts.
o Facilitate smooth information flow and collaboration across culturally diverse technical teams.
• Team Collaboration & Mentorship:
o Work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and QA teams to ensure seamless project execution.
o Act as a technical resource and subject matter expert for junior developers.
o Contribute to the professional development of team members through knowledge sharing, training, and constructive feedback.
o Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
• Problem Solving & Innovation:
o Identify and analyze technical challenges, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
o Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and methodologies to improve product quality and development efficiency.
o Proactively identify potential technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Adhere to the Information Security Management policies and procedures.
Job Specification / Skills and Competencies
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or senior developer role.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Mandatory JLPT N3+ certification with excellent demonstrable proficiency in spoken and written Japanese.
• Strong proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, C#, JavaScript) and relevant frameworks.
• Solid understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and common design patterns.
• Experience with database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to mentor and guide junior developers.
• Willingness to travel extensively and reside for extended periods in Japan as required by project demands.
• Experience working with Japanese clients or in a Japanese business environment is highly desirable.
