The 3D Texturing Supervisor leads a team of Texture Artists, responsible for the artistic and technical quality of all textures and materials created for a production. This role demands a strong artistic eye, deep technical expertise in texturing and look development, and proven leadership skills to guide a team in achieving the project's visual style and meeting demanding deadlines.

Team Leadership & Management:

Supervise, mentor, and provide constructive artistic and technical feedback to a team of Texture Artists.

Assign tasks to artists based on their skills and project requirements, ensuring efficient workflow.

Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, facilitating professional development and maintaining morale.

Participate in the recruiting and staffing of the texturing team, assessing candidates' work during the hiring process.

Artistic & Technical Direction:

Work closely with the VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, Model Supervisor, Look Development Supervisor, and Lighting Supervisor to interpret and develop the initial look of models and define the overall visual style of the project.

Ensure all textures and materials meet the artistic vision, quality standards, and technical specifications of the production (e.g., photorealistic, stylized).

Oversee quality control and aesthetic consistency across all textured assets.

Conduct regular reviews of artists' work, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to design briefs and visual consistency.

Pipeline & Workflow Development:

Collaborate with CG Supervisor and Pipeline departments to define and optimize the texturing pipeline, including inputs, outputs, naming conventions, scripts, and tools.

Assess the technical feasibility of design elements and implement production-friendly workflows.

Manage troubleshooting and technical efforts related to texturing and look development.

Responsible for show-wide texturing workflow documentation, mentoring, and information dissemination.

Production & Communication:

Work with Production (VFX Producer, Line Producer) to bid on work, drive the overall texturing schedule, and ensure crewing, schedules, and delivery timetables are met.

Balance artistic requirements with productivity and budget constraints.

Maintain clear lines of communication both within the texturing department and with other departments (Modeling, Rigging, Lighting, FX, Compositing).

Attend all relevant show production and team meetings to facilitate effective communication and address texturing comments/issues.

Technical Proficiency:

Possess expert knowledge and hands-on experience with industry-standard 3D texturing, painting, and look development software.

Stay continually familiar with new tools, software, and advances in the texturing/lighting pipeline.

Ensure textures are optimized for performance without compromising quality, especially for real-time applications or large-scale productions.
