We are seeking a skilled and proactive Linux System Administrator to join our infrastructure and operations team in Trivandrum. This role involves managing Linux environments across development, testing, and production platforms, with a strong focus on system stability, automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of hands-on technical expertise, scripting knowledge, and operational discipline to support mission-critical backend systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Administer and support Linux-based systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Monitor system health, application status, and infrastructure using tools like BMC Patrol, TrueSight, and Xmatters.
- Deploy backend environments (Test, Pre-Production, Production) based on evolving business and project requirements.
- Automate recurring administrative tasks using Bash, Shell, or Python scripting.
- Manage installation, configuration, and updates of applications on Linux servers.
- Provide Level 1, 2, and 3 support for infrastructure issues, user administration, and performance optimization.
- Administer job scheduling and workload automation tools like Control-M or UC4.
- Perform incident, problem, and change management using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
- Participate in an on-call support rotation and ensure consistent coverage for operational shifts.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
- Work collaboratively in an international and cross-functional team environment.
Required Technical Skills :
- Minimum 2 years of hands on experience in Linux system administration (preferably RHEL)
- Red Hat certification (RHCSA/RHCE) highly desirable
- Proficiency in Bash scripting; knowledge of Python is an added advantage
- Experience in automation tools and CI/CD processes using Ansible, Jenkins, or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git or SVN
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
- Monitoring tools experience like Dynatrace, IBM Optim or similar
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning capabilities
Process & Operational Skills :
- Understanding of Agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban
- Experience with incident handling, change management, and root cause analysis (RCA)
- Basic working knowledge of collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, and Wiki
- Ability to maintain SLAs and ensure operational efficiency across shifts
